The Writings is a depository of Christian fiction writers. An easy resource for us all to find one another!

Substack is an amazing tool and allows so much opportunity for Christian fiction writers to share their work. However, finding one another can prove challenging; finding readers even more so.

Hence The Writings! A one-stop shop for Christian writers to share their work and for readers to find something to read!

But more so than this, the aim is for this place to be a resources for writers. Thus, you will see that it contains a (hopefully growing) directory of not just writers, but editors and illustrators.

How it Will Work

You will receive updates on new stories, new writers, new editors and new illustrators added to The Writings. The good thing is, you can choose which updates you receive. If you’re only here as a writer looking to share your work and possibly connect with an editor, you can subscribe only to the Writers and Editors sections. If you’re a reader looking for new reads, subscribe only to the Writers section. It’s up to you!

The Writings is intended for Christian writers & readers, and so that will be a prerequisite for having your work listed. However, it is open to:

• Those who write expressly Christian material.

• A Christian whose fiction may not be expressly Christian but has Christian themes.

• Everything from lighthearted, uplifting, clean-fiction to stories that present darker content from a Christian perspective.

The Directory

This will be a curated list of Christian writers I’ve come across on Substack, updated weekly. If you’re not listed and wish to be added, comment below or drop a dm with your name and the genre(s) you write in!

In addition to the Directory, writers are encouraged to have their individual works listed on The Writings.

For Authors

If you are an author who wishes to have their work listed on The Writings, please send in your details!

• Title

• Author

• Genre(s)

• Category (Novel, Novella, Short-Story, etc.)

• Whether it’s a Complete work or a Serial in progress.

• If your work is Free to Read or Paywalled.

• A short paragraph describing your work.

• A URL linking to your Substack or the section containing your work. (do specify so people can find your work!)

For Editors

If you are an editor and would like to be added to the directory on The Writings, we’d love to have you! We just require a bit of information about yourself.

• Name

• Sample list of books worked on

• Fiction, non-fiction or both

• Genre(s) you specialise in

• Genre(s) you’re looking to edit

• Types of edit services you provide (developmental, line, copyediting, proofreading, etc.)

• Status (whether you’re currently accepting work or closed)

• A short paragraph about yourself.

• Website link.

• Email address (optional)

For Illustrators

We all need book covers right? Perhaps illustrations to go in our headers? Fancy dividers in our Substacks. Whatever it is, you might be just the person we’re looking for. If you want to be added to The Writings as an illustrator, please send along the following info:

• Name

• Medium (digital, traditional, or both)

• Style (Realistic, Minimalist, Line Art, Watercolor, Manga / Anime, Cartoon / Comic, Flat, Vector, Surrealist, Retro / Vintage, Ink / Wash, Digital Painting, Pixel-Art)

• Speciality (book covers, portraits, full body, background, etc.)

• Status (Open to commissions or closed)

• A short paragraph about yourself.

• Portfolio link.

• Email address (optional)

NOTE: We will aim to keep all information as up-to-date as possible. If you wish to change anything listed here (for example, Authors if your work goes from in progress to complete, or for Editors & Illustrators if your are either open or closed to commissions, drop us a message and we’ll get that changed.
